Rural Development Forum Communiqué: A Declaration of Africa’s Rural Priorities for the Post-2030 Agenda
The Rural Development Forum Communiqué presents a collective declaration of Africa’s rural priorities for the post-2030 development agenda. It captures key observations, shared priorities, recommendations, and calls for action emerging from the Rural Development Forum, convened by Rural Nurture Initiative (RNI) and the African Rural Development Network (ARDN) in Ibadan, Nigeria, on 20 August 2026.
The Communiqué calls for a shift from fragmented, short-term interventions toward community-led, locally owned, institutionalised, and sustainable approaches to rural development. It emphasises meaningful community participation, stronger institutions, inclusive opportunities for women and young people, investment in rural infrastructure and services, and greater accountability for development outcomes.
